On Saturday night, we gathered for the third annual Chumpy Pullin Foundation Gala dinner in Melbourne.

Year after year, it is awe-inspiring to see the ripple effect of Chumpy’s legacy growing and touching the lives of so many. These events are filled with incredible inspiration and generosity, and this year’s Melbourne Gala was no exception.

It was an unforgettable evening with heartfelt speeches, inspiring stories and treasured memories shared from those who knew and loved Chumpy so deeply. It warms our hearts to see the mix of people in the room filled each year, and to see the consistent growth in the number of people who never met Chumpy but still look to him as a beacon of inspiration.

As a Foundation, we strive everyday to keep Chumpy’s spirit alive. To continue the work he was already doing. To honour the person that Chumpy was, a warm and widely loved human who went ALL IN on all aspects of his life. The funds raised at the Gala will help us do just that. Supporting the roll out of initiatives such as the Chumpy Pullin Foundation SBX Scholarships, rekindling of the Chumpy Boarding House program and enabling youth empowerment programs such as SWELLBEING and our Indigenous Snow Camp.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful volunteers and individuals who made this event such a memorable and impactful occasion.

Thank you to guest speakers Ellidy, Chris and Emma Pullin and Ben Johnston; our MC Mitch Tomlinson; our panel hosts Blake Johnston and Ryan Tiene; and our panelists Troy Willoughby, Stacey Dalton, Liz Wardley, Ben Tudhope, Cam Bolton, Anton Grimus, Josie Baff, James Johnstone and Laura Enever. Your stories, memories and contributions to the evening were invaluable. Special thanks also to Kada Miller and The Beautiful Girls for their performances that entertained us well into the night.

The night would not have been possible without the support of our valued Board Members and sponsors. In particular, we want to thank our beverage sponsors – the absolute legends at FIZZ and Better Beer – who kept everyone well-hydrated. We also extend special thanks to each one of our supporting partners:

Alfred’s Apartment, AVMIN, Burton, Covergirl, Darling Shine, Days Like These, Dissh, Esmi, Endota, Epoke, Fender, Falls, Globe, Go Wild Ballooning, Hotel Sorrento, Hotham, Hurley, Kollab, Levantine Hill, Life Without Andy, Luxury Escapes, Mapp, Merecedes-Benz Berwick, Microflite Aviation, Mt Buller, NRL, Nat V, Pillar, Perisher, Recoverie, Redbull, Ribs & Dust, STUFF, Tempur, Thredbo, Turn & Burn, Uluwatu Surf Villas, Urbn Surf, Vahy and Vans.

We will end our Gala reflection with this beautiful poem called ‘All In’ written by Leanne Laydon, the Sunburnt Poet; which was lovingly shared on the evening buy our Founder and heart and soul of this foundation, Ellidy Pullin;

They say when a great tree falls
the mark of it’s measure remains,
and new beginnings are forged
from the seeds of which it was made.
The same can be said for Chumpy
whose legacy continues to grow,
from humble beginnings
the boy from Mt Buller,
to world champion on the snow.
He was ‘all in’, on the mountain.
‘All in’, every day of his life.
Now, his enduring memory inspires
a new generation to thrive.
And the humble human he was
would be in awe of his ripple effect,
as two words whispered show he existed
by the mark going ‘all in’, he’s left.
